Originally growing up on a farm in the Midwest, at an early age I learned core values, work ethic and the importance of community. Always an entrepreneur and ‘get it done’ person, I have now spent 40 years in various cities up and down the west coast, enjoying every place I have lived. I made Portland my home 13 years ago, established a consulting company, started teaching Social Security seminars, educating approaching seniors on their options. Through my real estate and insurance licenses, along with having trusted professionals that I could refer to, I provided services that enabled them smooth and educated retirement transitions.
The pandemic resulted in my deciding to take a couple years off to reassess my career goals and to see where my talents could be best used. I believe that life is best lived when a sense of accomplishment is also combined with a sense of service and that knowledge gained should be knowledge shared.
This led me to the decision to pivot from Social Security 101 into Medicare 101. Health decisions are as critical as financial decisions when planning retirement. Understanding one’s choices is such a crucial part of making Medicare decisions, and the choices can be very confusing. I can explain in an easy to understand, straightforward way the available options, so that the client has sufficient information to make a decision that best suits their needs. I also know the importance of being available and approachable on an ongoing basis to answer questions and assist in changes that might need to be taken as life situations arise.
In my ‘off’ time, I enjoy golf, anything on the water…kayaking, crabbing…music and travel. I work on enjoying every day, believing that life is a treasure that you relish by the minute!
